I'm sure rival fans, Sepp Blatter and indeed FIFA as a whole will be fearing for their safety tonight, as Luis Suarez returned to "football-related activities" for the first time since his infamous nibble on Giorgio Chiellini. However, despite punishing Suarez with such an all-encompassing ban, today's training session -- Luis Suarez's first as a FC Barcelona player -- passed without any real incident. Shockingly, there was no biting, chomping, munching, noshing, tasting or indeed any mastication of any sorts to report.
In fact, the rest of the FC Barcelona squad appeared remarkably nonchalant about Suarez' return, opting not to wear shoulder-guards, suits of armour or any protection at all against a potential biting incident. Despite a plethora of jokes from those amazing must-follow football "banter" accounts on Twitter, a tremendous display of restraint saw the Barcelona management resist the urge to force Suarez into wearing a mouth guard, or one of those hilarious cones someone might put on their dog.
In a remarkable development, sources close to the club tell me that no precautionary measures were taken at all, and yet Suarez still didn't start feasting on Gerard Pique.
However, while this may appear to be positive news, the Madrid-based media have got wind of today's events, with rumours circulating that Marca and Diario AS are preparing a front-page exposé revealing Josep Bartomeu's disappointment with Suarez' "toothless" training display.
We'll bring you more on that story as it develops, but for now, here are video highlights of Suarez' first day in FC Barcelona training.
