FC Barcelona vs Club Leon: Match review

Barcelona ended their preseason with a 6-0 victory over Mexican champions Club Leon.

It was a good performance. Yes, it wasn't a great team but a 6-0 against anyone is still an achievement.

Lets starts with the team as a whole then:

We played very direct to start with. There were no more of those useless passes in midfield and everything good went through a certain Leo Messi. The ball was moved forward really quickly and we always looked to create chances which was something we lacked last season. This is something we should continue into the season.

Overall it was a good solid setup and our playing style is showing a lot of promise. Now, lets move onto to some of the players:

Neymar

He looks sharp and fully recovered from his injury. His new role provides him a lot of freedom and for once, he looked like the Brazilian Neymar in a Barcelona shirt. He also linked up really well with Messi, something they struggled to do last season. Good performance from him.

Mathieu

He is a very good defender. We finally have a defender whose quick, strong and tall. I was also impressed with his passing. He brings the ball out of the back with ease and he also made that bursting run into the box where he almost scored so he is showing desire and good times are ahead of us.

Rakitic

Didn't see that much of him in this game, but whenever he got the ball, he ended up making the right passes. He is much more direct and works very hard both defensively and in attack. He also provided that fantastic ball to Dani alves late on for Munir to score. Have a lot of expectations for him.

Munir

This guy can score goals. He is always there at the right place and time. He's got that goal scoring instinct in him. However, there is still work to be done on his dribbling and he needs to not over-complicate things because he lost possession quite a few times yesterday. Nevertheless, he looks set to have a good future.

Rafinha

I was quite frankly unimpressed with his performance in this game. He missed chances, didn't look very much in the game and struggled to link up with Messi. This may just have been a bad day for him but from what I've seen, he shouldn't be played on the wing as he can play much better centrally.

Messi

He looks interested again. Everything went through him yesterday. He ran much more than he did in matches last season and took his goal well. Hopefully he will be back to his brilliant best this season.

I have high hopes for this season. We look set to have a great season and looking at our youngsters this preseason, we look to have a very good future. Let me know what you think in the comments section

Also, does anyone know why Halilovic didn't play last night?
