In six matches last season, FC Barcelona did not pick up a single victory against Diego Simeone and Atletico Madrid; tonight, the Blaugrana are looking to make it three wins out of three against the reigning La Liga champions to secure their place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals. It's been a dramatic turnaround, especially when one considers that Barça are probably at a worse stage in terms of league position than they were at this point last season. Still, appearances can be deceiving as few would argue that Barcelona have improved under Luis Enrique, particularly over the past few weeks.

Six wins on the bounce, including two against the best team in Spain; Barcelona have been in sensational form, scoring 23 goals in those six matches, conceding just once along the way. That's simply incredible no matter which way you look at it, and in this case, the statistics have been backed up by performances on the field. With Bayern Munich currently on a winter break, Barcelona are surely playing the best football in the world at present and other teams simply cannot cope.

Atletico Madrid tried last week, setting up shop in a defensive set-up, but even they failed in the end. Eventually, Barcelona's incessant pressure and individual quality, coupled with a few tiring legs in the Atleti defense combined to gift Barça a deserved victory. Will history repeat itself tonight, or will Atleti avenge their recent run of bad form against the Blaugrana?
