One more name to the list of potential Barcelona reinforcements.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana are targeting Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a future transfer. After following the player closely for over two years since his arrival in Germany, Barça officials are delighted with his improvement, and have singled out the Gabon international as the perfect option for the attacking group alongside the 'MSN' trio.
Now, to be clear, the 26-year-old is NOT a target for the January transfer window. Barça want a midfielder or a cheap winger, and Aubameyang's teammate Ilkay Gundogan is the Blaugranes' main goal for the winter signing period, along with Celta Vigo's Nolito. Sources told us that Aubameyang is indeed a target for the future, maybe next summer, since the Catalans want to have a strong bench option if/when Luis Suárez starts to decline due to his age.
Aubameyang just signed an extension with Dortmund, and luring him away from his club would take a huge investment, and that would be the only hurdle on the road for a team focused on cutting costs like Barça. But if the club's efforts give them more breathing room next summer, then signing a record-setting Bundesliga striker would be a giant addition to one of the strongest teams on the planet.
