UEFA Champions League: Round of 16 First Leg: Open Thread

An open thread for the Tuesday Round of 16 games in the UEFA Champions League

The Round of 16 starts tonight in the UEFA Champions League. Although Barcelona only plays next week, all eight matches are really interesting.

Tonight, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea will get all the attention. Two of the best (or richest, read however you want) teams on the planet will clash for the second straight season. Last year, the Blues won a dramatic quarter final tie against the French powerhouse, and only a late Demba Ba goal put them in the semifinal. Imagine how lucky you have to be to rely on Demba Ba to save your season and see that working.

Both teams will miss important pieces, as Cesc Fàbregas and Lucas Moura, two of the best performers in each team, are going to sit out of tonight's match (although there's a chance Fàbregas plays through an illness). PSG will likely miss other six players following an injury-plagued draw with Caen during their French League encounter.

Although PSG vs Chelsea is a spectacular game, Shakhtar Donetsk vs Bayern Munich is not to be overlooked. It's a fun match-up, but the German kings are probably going to get away with a good win. Pep Guardiola's team rebounded from a loss to Wolfsburg with a 8-0 destruction of Hamburg over the weekend and look like the clear favorites for this one.

You can use this thread to comment the games you're watching. Please keep the discussions light and respectful. Have fun!
