As Barcelona plans for the future of its squad, the Blaugrana are looking for young prospects that could blossom into superstars under their system.
Hakan Çalhanoglu is a very good midfielder who plays for Bayer Leverkusen. He can play any position on the central portion of the field, and his goalscoring ability and passing skills have caught the attention of Barça's scouts and officials. New sporting director Ariedo Braida is very high on the 21-year-old, and he could become a Plan B to Paul Pogba if some other big European club is able to land the Juventus star.
According to various sources, Çalhanoglu's price tag is around €20 million, a reasonable amount for such a talented youngster. Though the position is stacked with prospects at Barça already, it wouldn't hurt to have another good player at that position.
The player's agent revealed Barça's interest in a recent interview with a German newspaper:
"Although it is good to think about your future with a big club, Hakan is not thinking about Barça yet. He has everything he needs at Bayer Leverkusen right now: he's playing on the Champions League, he's competing at Bundesliga and he's still competing for a German Cup title. It doesn't make sense to think about other clubs right now."
