The race is officially over: Real Madrid announces signing of Barcelona target Danilo

Well, so much for the "Danilo to Barcelona" thing.

Even though it was set in stone that the FC Porto star full-back was going to sign with Real Madrid, the deal had not been made official yet, which gave Barça fans a little bit of hope that the Blaugrana could maybe sign the Brazilian.

Now, it is officially over. Los Blancos announced on Tuesday that they have reached a deal with both Porto and the player, and Danilo will sign for Madrid for the next SIX (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) years.

Here's their statement on the signing:

Real Madrid CF and FC Porto have agreed to the transfer of player Danilo, who's going to join the team next season and will stay with the club until June of 2021.

I'm not surprised, but I'm still sad. Not only because we lost perhaps the best right-back on the market; not only because we lost perhaps the best right-back on the market to OUR BIGGEST FAWKING RIVAL; but mainly because we're now stuck with Glen Johnson rumors.

What a day.
