UEFA Champions League: Tuesday Quarter-Final 1st Leg: Live Open Thread

The best European competition on the planet is back. Eight teams begin today the quest for a place on the UEFA Champions League semifinal. Next week, only four remain. And we have some great match-ups.

Today, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Juventus and Monaco are the first four teams to play for glory. The Spanish Capital Derby is perhaps the most anticipated tie of this quarter-final stage. We all remember last season's final, a nail-biter that saw Los Blancos winning the Big Ear Trophy in a historical, unforgettable game. Since then, the story is different: Atleti have absolutely owned Real, kicking their butts to win the Spanish Super Cup, winning both La Liga matches and also eliminating Real from the Spanish Cup.

Atleti is as strong as it was last season, and their set-piece and counter-attacking game has proven to be fatal against Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. Today's clash is at Vicente Calderón, Atleti's home, and the game should be a great one. Can't miss.

The other match of the day puts together the current Kings of Italy against a Monaco side who has surprised and shocked the world in the year's edition of the UCL. Juventus suffered a bit through the group stage, and used some grit and grind to get through Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16. Now, they face the Champions League's best defense, and the Fench have eliminated Arsenal to prove that they're not a fluke.

Should be a great day of football. Please keep the thread fun and respectful, so we don't have to ban anyone. And, obviously, if Real Madrid loses, feel free to celebrate. Enjoy!
