Barcelona manager Luis Enrique was beyond excited after his team qualified to the UEFA Champions League Final despite a 3-2 loss to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. Lucho was very complimentary of his players, and said he knows this team can win all three competitions they’re in.
Enrique also seemed a little worried about the team’s no-show in the second half, but recognized it is difficult to maintain the same focus after getting such a big aggregate advantage at halftime.
Lucho also called the result "mission accomplished", and he said it clearly – he wants to be European champion.
Here’s a few highlights from his post-match press conference:
"It’s mission accomplished. Our next objective is to be European champions. We're one win away from winning each of the three competitions. This is our objective. It's a nice moment but we still have to seal the deal".
"We are very happy, we deserve a place in the final. The team did well and getting to half-time with a lead was important. It was a game that was determined by our rival’s need to take risks and attack, but even though they took the lead, we came back at them and created plenty of chances. The win is down to all of the people who make up the team and it’s a moment to enjoy".
"I suffered a bit, but I suffer in every tie, they all have their difficulties. We lost a lot of possession in the second half and I felt we had slipped into the idea that we were already in the final, but we know our players’ abilities and what they can do and I am very happy with their performance - this is a moment to congratulate them".
