Just like we anticipated right after the match against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, Luis Suárez indeed has a hamstring injury and is still not cleared for the Sunday clash with Atlético Madrid on Sunday afternoon, a match that could clinch the championship with a Blaugrana victory.
After Thursday’s training session, Barcelona confirmed the news, although the update is not that long: "Luis Suárez, with a left hamstring injury, did physio on his own and his presence in future training sessions will depend on how things develop." Also according to the club, his status is officially "doubtful" for the game at Vicente Calderón.
The good news here, if any, is the timing. Since the match against Bayern happened on Tuesday, and the next clash is on Sunday, there is a five-day stretch for the Uruguayan to recover in time. And all signs point to Luisito being ready in time. If all things go well, Suárez will get the medical green light on Sunday and will be set for selection.
Obviously, El Pistolero will be fundamental to bang with the big, physical boys on the Colchonero squad at Calderón. If Luisito is there, then the chances of winning the title on Sunday definitely increase.
Let's just hope he gets set to score. After all, he hasn't found the net in almost two weeks, already.
