Against all opponents, Barça were very strong, winning all but two games. In La Liga, They were impressive at both ends of the pitch, averaging three goals scored per match and averaging less than one goal conceded per game. This really shows how strong Gerard Piqué and co. were at the back during an important period for Barcelona while Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suárez continued to fire upfront. The side were no stranger to shots on goal themselves with an average of 15 shots per game.
It's no surprise to see the majority of goals coming from inside the box. This is the mantra of Barça's style as they look to work the ball into the box and convert easy chances rather than going for the spectacular all the time.
The front three are all clinical strikers and this is highlighted by they're impressive shots on target/shots attempted ratio. Averaging an on target percentage of 64% and this comes from the fact that the majority of their shots are from within the area. 72% of the goals scored did come from inside the box while 24% were headers. A relatively small amount of goals came from outside the box at just 4%.
Defensively, headers proved an effective area for opponents with 38% of goals coming from aerial attempts. This long-ball tactic is highlighted by the fact that 57% of opponents attacks came from long balls. In comparison, Barcelona's passing style is emphasised by 77% of their attacks coming from passing moves, limiting long ball attacks to just 8%.
Finally, we can see that Barcelona averaged more attacks than their opponents in the month with 74.6 compared to 65.1. Also of these attacks Barcelona had a strong percentage of high scoring chances. Registering 38%, which is double the amount the opponents enjoyed.
So it was a very positive month for Barça, capped off with the Champions League win just six days later.
