Gareth Bale has dismissed reports that he is set to leave Real Madrid this summer. Bale, 25, has been linked with a move to Manchester United after enduring a difficult second campaign at Madrid, which saw him criticised by both fans and the media.

"It was terribly difficult not being able to help Real Madrid in the Champions League," he told Sportske Novosti ahead of his country’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Italy in Split. "I missed key matches, but what can you do? It’s onwards and upwards. Last season was very difficult. I had some great spells with Madrid and Croatia but also a lot of bad luck with injuries."
