After a protracted saga, Dani Alves has renewed his contract. The right-back apparently had more lucrative offers elsewhere, but went with his heart and agreed to stay for 2 more seasons with an optional third.
His renewal comes days after Barcelona signed his apparent heir, Aleix Vidal, from Sevilla. However, Vidal will not be able to play until mid-season due to the transfer ban. Therefore, Barcelona were keen to keep Alves at least until then as a starter.
Alves has had his struggles but came good at the business end of the season, helping Barcelona to the treble.
The futures of the other right-backs - Martin Montoya and Douglas - are now highly unclear.
