Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi won the ESPY for Best International Athlete on Wednesday, beating out Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo, tennis player Novak Djokovic, golfer Lydia Ko and F1 driver Lewis Hamilton. Messi became the all-time leading scorer in La Liga and UEFA Champions League. He helped Barcelona claim the 2014-15 Champions League title as the joint top scorer (10) and the assists leader (6).

Leo Messi, Neymar Jr and Luis Suárez, winners of the Champions League in Berlin, have been included among the ten candidates for the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award. The trio of Barça strikers have been named along with Buffon, Pirlo, Pogba, Arturo Vidal and Tévez (Juventus), Hazard (Chelsea) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid).

All of Bartra, Piqué, Sergio, Alba, Pedro, Aleix Vidal and Rakitic were back at training on Wednesday afternoon. The seven players have reported back for work slightly later than those that started on Monday because they had international matches at the end of last season.
