Pedro has left, but a guy who was such an important player for Barcelona still deserves some coverage, at least for now.
The winger is already settled at Chelsea, has trained with the squad, posed with his new shirt and even gave an interview to the club website, and he speaks English well. He's going to be a fan-favorite in London, just like he was at Barça. The last thing left to know about Pedro's departure is what number he will use with the Blues.
Now we know, and it's a familiar one!
Pedro will wear the Chelsea No.17 jersey and fellow new signing Baba Rahman will now wear his preferred No.6.
I love this. Not only is it one of Pedro's favorite numbers, it's the one he used in his most spectacular spell at the Catalan club. During the glorious Pep Guardiola years, Pedrito wore the #17 and scored key goal after key goal, winning title after title with that number on his back. When David Villa left the club, Pedro decided to inherit the number 7 shirt and was never the same. I'm not superstitious or anything, but maybe Pedro is, and since he had no choice with the #7 being used by Ramires (screw you, Ramires), why not choose the number that brought you success?
Good idea, perhaps.
