Adriano Correia's departure was basically a foregone conclusion for Barcelona. Now, things may have changed.
According to reports from Spain, the Brazilian full-back, who has a €6 million offer and promises of a bigger role at Serie A contenders AS Roma, had a long conversation with coach Luis Enrique recently, and the manager reportedly assured Adriano that he's very important to him, including this powerful quote:
"To me, you're worth four players. When I look on the bench and I see you, I don't see one option, I see four options, and I know you can perform greatly in any of the four positions."
That specific quote is what allegedly has made Adriano change his mind. After battling injuries and getting less minutes on Enrique's first season, the 30-year-old is now more confident that if he can get healthy, and with the need for rotations even bigger until January, he will get a lot more chances to play this season, especially with three more trophies to compete in 2015.
For that reason, Adriano is set to sign a contract extension until 2018, with better wages and an improved buyout clause. There's a strong possibility that the new deal gets inked and announced before the European Super Cup.
