Over the last few weeks, Barcelona have been heavily linked with Celta Vigo forward Nolito, due to the strong reports of a potential Pedro Rodríguez move away from Camp Nou.
Nolito is the only Celta player to have missed the entire team's preseason, which only contributed to the rumors of him joining the Blaugrana and former coach Luis Enrique. But Celta's manager, Eduardo Berizzo, decided to put a stop to the whole nonsense, and played down the possibility of his star leaving the club.
But he might have gone too far in complimenting Nolito.
"Nolito is fine and will play [against Boavista on Friday].
"[His absence] has been due to fitness reasons. I’ve heard rumours about his absence which could not be further from reality.
"There’s been no interest from any other team [for Nolito].
"Everything that’s been said about his possible move to Barca doesn’t mean he deserves any special treatment.
"Between any Barca player and Nolito, I’d take Nolito, but we’re prepared [for his release clause being met]."

That's... uh... interesting. I'm not sure Nolito is better than Lionel Messi, or Neymar Jr., or Luis Suárez, or even Pedro, the guy Nolito is possibly replacing. But hey, Berizzo is there on practice everyday, and he knows the talent!
I love football coaches.
