Lionel Messi injured and Cristiano Ronaldo can't score - ESPN FC
Oh, dear. Saturday was not a good day for Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Messi suffered a knee injury in Barcelona's 2-1 win vs. Las Palmas and is expected to be out for up to eight weeks. Meanwhile, Ronaldo racked up 14 shots vs. Malaga but managed to get only two on target as Real Madrid were held to a 0-0 draw.

Villarreal make history in La Liga plus Barca minus Messi - ESPN FC
Barcelona are only one point off the lead having beaten Las Palmas 2-1 on Saturday evening, although the result was almost an after-thought on Saturday afternoon at the Camp Nou. While Luis Suarez's double strike was enough for the three points, blaugrana fans and pundits spent their afternoon mostly worrying about the extent of the injury which had forced off Lionel Messi after just nine minutes of the game.

Deportivo La Coruna up to sixth in La Liga after comfortable win over Espanyol - ESPN FC
Deportivo La Coruna moved up to sixth in the Primera Division after beating Espanyol 3-0 at Riazor. An early own goal by Alvaro Gonzalez put the hosts on their way and then Lucas Perez scored either side of half-time to wrap up a second straight win for Victor Sanchez del Amo's side.

David Moyes' slow start to the season goes on in Real Sociedad draw - ESPN FC
Real Sociedad laboured to a 0-0 draw at home to Athletic Club in La Liga to continue a slow start to the season for David Moyes' team. The former Manchester United manager's position has come under scrutiny over the past week since a 3-2 home defeat by Espanyol left them out of the relegation zone only on goal difference.

Getafe 3-0 Levante - ESPN FC
Getafe secured a 3-0 home victory over Levante to leave the visitors languishing in La Liga's bottom three. Two goals from the impressive Alvaro Vazquez and a third from Emiliano Buendia, all in the game's final 10 minutes, secured victory when a goalless draw had looked likely.
