Barcelona got such an incredible win on Tuesday that we have almost forgotten about the team they faced: Bayer Leverkusen deserve tons of credit for a near-perfect performance, and they deserved a win for almost 80 minutes until Barça took over and pulled off a miracle result.
Speaking to the media after the match, Bayer coach Roger Schmidt was clearly saddened by the final result, but was very complimentary not only of his team's performance, but also of the Blaugrana for the comeback victory and for Luis Suárez's splendid goal. Here's a few highlights of his postgame quotes:
"Obviously we are sad, I think we played an excellent match. We were brave, we defended compactly, we had the chance to score the second goal but then Barcelona upped the pressure, they scored the equalizer and quickly Luis Suárez scored a brilliant goal. I congratulate my team.
"We deserved a point against the best team in the world in their stadium. We defended with passion. Barcelona also deserved the win as they scored two goals but I am very proud of the match my players played.
"Even without Messi, Barcelona are a super team. Suárez scored a world-class goal. We were a bit exhausted at the end, maybe because we have played four matches in ten days."
