The January transfer window looked to be quiet for Barcelona in terms of new signings, but the Blaugrana are shopping. And they seem close to a deal with a new player.
Denis Suárez, today at Villarreal, has agreed to a deal to return to the Catalan giants, sources told Barça Blaugranes. Diario Sport was first to report the initial agreement. If the deal goes through, Denis will sign a four-year contract with the Treble winners.
Suárez, a former Barça B product, bounced around at clubs like Manchester City and Sevilla before coming to the Yellow Submarine, who acquired the player's rights last August. However, as the parent club, Barça kept a €3 million buyback clause on the new deal, which they could exercise anytime starting this January. The club acted fast, and will use that option to bring in the player.
The player has agreed to all terms, and now it's up to the two clubs to work out the final details. Denis will serve as a replacement to Rafinha Alcântara, who suffered a serious knee injury back in October and is still months away from his return. He can play either as a midfielder or a winger, which will certainly please coach Luis Enrique.
If the deal happens, Denis will join Nolito, another former Barça B player on his way to coming back to Catalunya, as the new Blaugrana signings for the season along with Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal.
