While los Blancos have won the Copa del Rey and two Champions League title in that period, Ronaldo admits the club’s reputation demands they must win the league more often. "A club of Real Madrid's stature can't go so long without winning LaLiga," Ronaldo told Marca. "It is a competition we must be more consistent in and we are confident we can win it."

Las Palmas was held to a scoreless draw at home by Espanyol in the Spanish league on Friday. Kevin-Prince Boateng had the Canary Islands side's best two chances, but his pair of shots were saved by Espanyol goalkeeper Diego Lopez. Las Palmas' third consecutive draw allowed it to climb into sixth place.

Griezmann's excellence has failed to impress Bayern Munich winger Ribery, however, who says the forward needs to produce that level of performance over a longer period. "For me, you have to prove yourself over 10, 12 or 15 years if you want to be among the best. Do that and then I will congratulate you," said the Bayern Munich winger. Griezmann issued a measured response, telling Eurosport: "Everyone has an opinion. To my father, for example, I'm the best player in the world. To the fans of Atletico, too."

Brazilian right back Danilo perfectly executed a superb nutmeg on the Portuguese forward whilst playing a Rondo at Real's training complex in Valdebebas. Ronaldo momentarily carried on chasing the ball with Gareth Bale but then just seconds later, he realised just what happened to him and was far from impressed.

Speaking to Marca at the opening of a new Atletico shop on Madrid's Gran Via street, Gameiro was asked about his friend's chances of winning world football's most prestigious individual trophy. "I hope he gets it," the former Sevilla striker said. "We know it is difficult, but I will help him go for this trophy, and then we can celebrate it together."

Carrasco claimed he has no interest in offers from elsewhere and wants to prolong his stay with Atleti beyond the expiry of his deal. "I'm already here until 2020 and hopefully I can be here longer," he said. "I'm really happy at Atleti. I've been really well received at the club. When I score goals and when I play well, the fans chant my name, and I hope that continues."
