The Champions League match against Manchester City has been full of casualties for Barcelona.
Star defender Gerard Piqué was forced to leave in the first half with what appears to be an ankle injury. Piqué suffered a hard challenge from City midfielder David Silva and rolled his right ankle. The Spaniard tried to continue, but eventually left the game and was replaced by Jérémy Mathieu in 38th minute.
This is the second injury to Barça's defense in the first half alone, after Jordi Alba had to leave after just nine minutes with a muscle problem. Piqué has been the best defender in football so far this season, and it would be a shame if he missed significant time because of the problem.
Hopefully this is just a lot of pain and not a real issue with ligaments or anything like that. We can't afford to lose Geri, especially after Alba's injury.
Come on, injury bug! Leave us alone!
