Lionel Messi heard Argentina's security did not get salary in 6 months, paid them HIMSELF

The Argentine star paid security staff that had yet to receive their salary from the federation.

It was at a hotel in Brazil when members of Argentina’s security staff knocked on Lionel Messi’s door. “You know us, and we need help,” they told the Barcelona star.

So starts the story from Argentine journalist Juan Pablo Varsky on the show No Somos Nadie on the radio station Metro 95.1.

It turned out that the security staff hadn’t been paid in 5 or 6 months by the Argentina Football Association, and they were appealing to the captain of the team for some help.

So Messi then called over his dad, Jorge, and after talking it over, the two decided to pay the owed salary with their own money. Yes, their own money. Not the Argentina FA money, their own.

Varsky said Leo would not have liked the story to have leaked to the media, but the journalist thought people ought to know the story.

Of course they should. Messi is awesome.
