The Group Stages of the 2016/17 Champions League is in the books and teams are preparing for the winter break in the two European club competitions. But before clubs close the books on a largely predictable 2016 part of the Champions League, UEFA will conduct the Round of 16 draw.
The 16 teams that have qualified have been divided into two pots, winners and runners-up. Each of the eight ties will feature one team from the winners pot and one from the runners-up pot. The other two remaining conditions are that teams from the same association cannot be drawn together and that teams that have already played together in the group can’t meet again. The runner-up will host the first leg which will be played on 14, 15, 21 and 22 February, and the second legs will be played on 7, 8, 14 and 15 March 2017.
Taking those conditions into account, Barcelona will be pitted against one of the following five teams: Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayer Leverkusen, Benfica, Porto.
