We have been hearing for a while now that Barcelona were in for Valencia’s João Cancelo, and now, according to Sport, it’s a done deal. The 22-year-old will join in the summer and sign for five seasons, if the report is correct.

Barcelona will not make it public until the summer either, but they wanted to move quickly to make sure other teams would not be able to pounce first. The report also says Cancelo has already agreed a contract with Barcelona, the only detail missing is the final transfer fee, which could be around 30 million euro.

Cancelo’s contract was negotiated by superagent Jorge Mendes, who holds a lot of sway at Valencia. Barcelona also have a good relationship with Valencia and their owner, Peter Lim. The Catalans just dropped a lot of money to sign André Gomes and Paco Alcácer from Los Che.
