The Chinese have been shelling out an obscene amount of money on superstars and one Blaugrana who continues to remain on their radar is Barça number 7, Arda Turan.
Last week's print of Turkish newspaper Fanatik reported Guangzhou Evergrande’s interest in Arda, mentioning a potential salary of a whooping €18 million, which is a huge upgrade on his current paycheck.
Arda Turan: "I read about the offers from China from the papers. It's how these things work. Clubs might be talking." [NTV Spor]— Barça News Forum (@BarcaNewsForum) December 30, 2016
Despite the club having already warded off interest from China last summer, the Chinese Super League has refused to give up on the former Atletico star and have returned with a new offer. However, Turan committed his future to the Blaugrana in his latest interview.
Turan: "I am very happy in Barcelona. I have a contract until the age of 33. I am in the greatest club of the world. What more can I say?"— Barça News Forum (@BarcaNewsForum) December 30, 2016
Turan has had his struggles at the Camp Nou, but the Turkish international has finally settled into the squad this season under the management of Luis Enrique, who has stood by the player ever since he first arrived for a fee of €34 million an year and half ago. The player has repaid the coach's faith in his abilities, by giving inspired performances through out the course of the season.
Turan: "I believe I am an important piece in Barcelona's squad. I try to do my best. I think my performance is the proof of it."— Barça News Forum (@BarcaNewsForum) December 30, 2016
The player and his entourage have been very straight-forward with their position on the issue, but the club would be making a profit on the player, should they choose to entertain the offer.
While the club's actions in the past suggest a reluctance to sell, it sure is nice to see that Arda Turan is willing to turn down millions in the name of glory.
