FC Barcelona put in a dominant display at home to Borussia Monchengladbach to end the Champions League group stage on a high with a goal from Leo Messi and a hat-trick from Arda Turan in a 4-0 win. With first place in the group already wrapped up, Barça took a morale-boosting win at the Camp Nou after three straight draws in all competitions.

Arda Turan recorded his first ever hat-trick as a Barça player on Tuesday and, even more impressively, he managed the feat in just 17 minutes. Between minutes 50 and 67, the Turkish international beat Borussia Mönchengladbach keeper Yann Sommer on no less than three occasions, adding to the goal he scored against the same side in Germany when Barça took all three points in their first meeting in the group stage.

The manager said that "the team was good throughout the game, despite going up against a very closed opponent". He also called described his players as being "quick and precise" which was much to his liking, and stated that "the quick and accurate circulation (of the ball) was key".

Arda Turan scored his first hat-trick in a Barça shirt, and the Turk only took 17 minutes to do it. He also laid up Leo Messi’s goal and was a fitting choice for the man of the match award. Arda became the sixth Barça player to net three in a UCL era match, following on from Messi (7), Rivaldo, Eto'o, Ronaldinho and Neymar.

His latest achievement is thanks to his goal against against Borussia Mönchengladbach, as the Argentine now has 473 official goals, drawing level in fourth place with the legendary Portuguese striker Eusebio (Benfica) for most number of goals scored at the same club.

The 4-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Tuesday night at the Camp Nou brought positive vibes back to the squad after a run of three winless games. Javier Mascherano, who was making his 300th appearance for Barça, said after the game that he wants to "play more matches and win titles" and expressed his happiness at being at the club.

Belletti went to the Brazilian city as a FC Barcelona ambassador and was there for the commemorative events for the victims of the plane crash in Colombia. Unfortunately, the Chapecoense squad were on board this flight on the 28 November. Belletti was in touch with the Brazilian club's directors and also spoke to the fans, friends and family of the victims.
