The landslide victory was well underway even before halftime, as Getafe surrendered an own-goal and Munir El Haddadi, Neymar and Lionel Messi all found the net to stake Barça out to a 4–0 lead before the intermission.

Goal-fests have become a common occurrence at Camp Nou this campaign, with FC Barcelona’s recent thrashing of Getafe adding to a long list of similar feats.

The Barça manager was also slightly bewildered, in a good way. “It seems like winning comes easy for us,” he said. “This is a unique team. They make things look simple, though nothing could be further from the truth.”

Barça's comfortable win sees another goal for Munir and a league debut for Sergi Samper

For captain Andrés Iniesta, the streak is most impressive. "Thirty-seven games without losing is astonishing, and we want to extend it further,” he said. “We’re going to try to keep our winning streak in the league, because it will help bring us the title.”

Barça have a Champions League last sixteen game on Tuesday followed by a weekend Liga fixture at the side currently fourth in the table

If there is one player in the Barça squad who knows all about Arsenal, then that man is Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgian defender was at the Gunners for five years, and was first team captain until his move to Barça in the summer of 2014.
