Johan Cruyff has died at the age of 68 in Barcelona.

His website confirmed the passing:

On March 24 2016 Johan Cruyff (68) died peacefully in Barcelona, surrounded by his family after a hard fought battle with cancer. It’s with great sadness that we ask you to respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.

One of the greatest players in football history, the Dutchman changed the sport as a player and even more as a coach, and it was at the Catalan club that he made his strongest contributions. He created the Dream Team we adore to this day, and crafted a style of football that shaped the way the club plays and will play for years to come.

Cruyff is the reason most of us even like football in the first place, let alone be Barcelona fans. His legacy is unmatched and unforgettable, and if we've enjoyed so many glories in the last few decades, we have to thank Johan. Forever.

Thank you, Cruyff. We must honor your legend by doing our best to value the glories you have brought us.
