The amount of energy spent in search of a sporting record is insane. You put your heart, soul, mind and body into it, and it is a huge relief to achieve it. After such a hard sequence, it's natural to relax and not do so well in the next few games.
That is not the case for Barcelona, however. Even after reaching 35 consecutive matches without a loss in all competitions, the Blaugrana have huge matches on the horizon. The second leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout round against Arsenal is right around the corner, as well as a decisive La Liga game against Villarreal on the road.
Before that, Sunday holds another tough away game, at the Basque Country against Eibar. The Armeros are one of this season's most exciting surprises in the Spanish League, sitting comfortably in the top half of the table, well above the expected relegation battle. They still dream about European qualification, and a win against the league leaders could be huge to make that dream a little more real.
They are in a good position to do so: Barça will likely be a weaker, rotated side, and one third of the 'MSN' trio is certainly out, with Neymar having to serve a suspension. Plus, they've just broken the unbeaten record, and could be not as focused on the fixture as they would or even should be. Still, the Blaugrana are the best team in the world, and a giant mountain for Eibar to climb. Can they do it, and can the Catalans keep their head in the game? It is a fascinating match, and you should definitely watch it.
