Pep Guardiola believes Barcelona is "still the best team in the world" despite Champions League exit

Barcelona is a mess on the pitch, and that is costing the team its season. That doesn't mean they're not the best, though.

Bayern Munich manager and Barça legend Pep Guardiola spoke to the press after his team was drawn against Atlético Madrid, who just knocked out the Catalans, in the Champions League semifinals. While Atlético deserve plenty of praise, it is undeniable the Blaugranes are not as good as they were just a few weeks ago.

Still, according to Pep, his former club is still at the top of the food chain.

"Barcelona are still the best because of the titles they have won in recent years, their style of play and the options they have in attack... but Atlético have been able to put the brakes on them because they know how to play against Barcelona. Their players know perfectly what they have to do. I still think Barça are the best team in Europe. This can happen over one or two games. Luis Enrique has nearly always beaten Diego Simeone, but in a two-legged tie, anything can happen."

The Spaniard also analyzed his opponents, and is expecting a very difficult semifinal and a great atmosphere at the Vicente Calderón.

"Atlético know exactly what they have to do in defence. If they do not play to their best on a certain day, they are still solid. They have conceded so few goals in recent years because their structure is so good. They press aggressively and if they do not win the ball back, they retreat deep and play very compact. The atmosphere in the Vicente Calderón is the best in Europe."

Pep Guardiola knows a thing or two about Barcelona and football. I wouldn't doubt when he says Barça is still the best team. Would you?
