Real Madrid got the job done in the fight to keep up with Barcelona and Atlético Madrid in the league, getting three important points against Rayo at Vallecas.

Ángel Correa came off the bench to score his fifth La Liga goal as Atlético Madrid overcame controversy and a typically rugged Málaga to secure three big points on Saturday.

Benzema was hauled off in the latter stages of first half at Vallecas, where Madrid came back from behind to win 3-2, and Zidane was unable to give any updates on the striker’s condition in light of the Champions League semi-final first leg on Tuesday.

Aduriz has been missing since April 14, when he suffered a hamstring problem during Athletic’s penalties defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-finals, but Valverde claims his side may have their top goalscorer back for the visit of Celta Vigo next weekend.

A run of three straight wins has left Valencia just six points behind seventh-placed Sevilla with only four games remaining, and Pako claims his side have benefitted from focusing on the present rather than past glories.

Rami’s attempt to stoke the fires before kick-off at the Sanchez Pizjuan backfired as his Instagram post that he did not consider Betis to be Sevilla’s rivals was quickly deleted, but Emery was happy to report water under the bridge between the defender and his employers.
