Barcelona have taken the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals after a gigantic comeback 2-1 win at Camp Nou over Atlético Madrid, with goals from Luis Suárez (2), and Fernando Torres for Atlético. The match was as tough and nervous as expected against the fighting Colchoneros, but the Blaugranes showed strength, came back from behind and responded to the loss in El Clásico with a big result in the European Cup.

FIRST HALF

The Blaugrana had a good start, looked prepared to deal with Atleti's high pressing and had dangerous movements around the box taking advantage of the spaces left when the Colchoneros failed to recover the ball. Neymar had a good header and almost scored the opener, and that's when Diego Simeone changed the tactics, and Atleti started to play better.

From the other side

The visitors sat deep and crowded their own box and stopped everything that Barça tried. Going forward, they were sharp, dangerous and precise, and that led to the opening goal. After a sensational through ball by Koke, Fernando Torres finished with ease through Ter Stegen's legs and gave Atleti the lead.

With the lead, the Colchoneros started defending with force, and that led to Torres receiving a red card after two hard, bookable offenses. Barça had little time to take advantage in the first half, and went into halftime needing a sensational second half to come back and win.

SECOND HALF

The hosts improved, and the first ten minutes of the final period were a complete blitz that included a sensational bicycle kick that went just wide, a beautiful shot by Neymar that hit the crossbar and a header from the Brazilian himself that was saved by keeper Jan Oblak.

The goal looked more and more likely, and after fifteen minutes of insane pressure it came. A cross from Dani Alves found Jordi Alba, and his errant shot hit Luis Suárez and went in for the equalizer. Alves was at it again, with another perfect cross that found El Pistolero that headed home with force to give Barça the lead.

The Catalan giants continued to put huge amounts of pressure, but Simeone made more defensive substitutions and was able to maintain the score as it was.

In the end, a great comeback win after an even better second half. Things didn't look pretty before the game, but the confidence is coming back to the world's best team.
