Lionel Messi is going through tax trouble again, but that is not affecting him, according to a close friend.
Javier Mascherano, a friend and teammate both at Barcelona and the Argentine national team, spoke to the media after the 2-1 win against Atlético Madrid on Tuesday, and he was asked about Messi's alleged involvement in the Panama Papers scandal. The best player in the world did not have his greatest performance against the Colchoneros, leading to questions about whether his tax troubles could be having an effect on his football.
According to El Jefecito, that is not the case.
"Leo is very calm, it's all I can say. We all know and believe in Leo's honesty. Unfortunately these are things that happen in life, it happened to me as well. That is where family and friends are important, and we're all the for him, to support him in tough times. But I can simply say that Leo is actually very calm."

We never know what goes inside someone's mind, but it's impossible even for a mentally tough guy like Leo Messi not to be affected by such allegations.
Hopefully everything gets sorted out quickly, and Leo can be himself again.
