After 17 consecutive home victories, Sevilla finally lost at the Sanchez Pizjuan. Four days later, they finally won their first away game of the season, in Europe or the league. (In the Copa del Rey they defeated Second Division B Logrones, Second division Mirandes, and local rivals Betis, meaning that they had not beaten a single top division club outside the city of Seville.)

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane says that James Rodriguez must learn from his mistakes after he was seen laughing on the sidelines during the club's 2-0 Champions League loss to Wolfsburg on Wednesday. James, 24, has not cemented his place in the side under Zidane and has struggled to impress since he joined Madrid from Monaco for €80 million after finishing as top scorer at the 2014 World Cup.

Similarly, Keylor Navas will sit on the stands, as Kiko Casilla gets a rare chance to play a Liga match at the Bernabeu. Luka Modric will also rest on Saturday and Sergio Ramos, suspended after his sending off in Barcelona, won't participate in the proceedings either. The absentee list finishes with Raphael Varane, still recovering from the injury he picked up while on international duty with France.

The hosts, who started the day a point above the Primera Division's bottom three, picked up their fourth straight draw in the league to dent Malaga's slim hopes of Europa League qualification.
