The volume of rumors during Silly Season is insane, but there is truth to one speculation surround Barcelona's summer transfer.

Friday came with a report from French media that the Catalan giants have met several times and could be closing in on a free transfer deal with Nice forward Hatem Ben Arfa. As usual, it's impossible to know whether or not this is fact or just another entry to the rumor mill.

But according to Nice's president, Jean-Pierre Rivere, the rumors are real, and he would love to see the deal actually happening.

"Barcelona has contacted Hatem. The player has not confirmed is a done deal, but they have met, that's for sure.

"I would be very happy if the transfer happened, not only for the player but for Nice. This would mean Nice is a club that once had an extraordinary player like Ben Arfa.

"I'm not the player and I'm not Barcelona, and in the end the decision belongs to the player. But personally I would be very happy if the transfer is completed."

So the meetings have happened, and Ben Arfa's boss wants the deal to happen. Well, it's starting to sound like Barça has a new 'MSN' backup.
