The time for warm-ups and pleasantries are over; the 2016 European Championships will kick off tonight at the Stade de France as hosts France take on Romania in the opening game of Group A. The hosts are considered the bookies favourites for the competition and will be hoping to make a statement with a big win as the world watches on with interest.

Will their lack of competitive football over the past two years hinder their ability to turn it in as the tournament begins? Will they miss the presence of Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema? Could this be the summer that Paul Pogba shines on the international stage? We have so many questions, and with any luck a few of them will be answered tonight.

Antoine Griezmann must be the star player to watch out for in this one; after the disappointment of missing a crucial penalty in the UEFA Champions League final, does Griezmann have the mental strength to bounce back and inspire his country to victory?

Here at Barca Blaugranes we will be keeping tabs on all the action as it develops throughout the tournament, starting tonight with the first of our daily live threads where you can discuss all the entertainment as it unfolds.
