In an interview with Diario Ole, Argentina and Barcelona megastar Lionel Messi had this to say about the United States, his next opponent at Copa America:

They are a difficult rival, strong physically, a rival that if you let them play they do very well, that tries to have long spells of possession as well. They like to get forward from the fullbacks out wide and also play through the middle. Beyond being the home team, they are an interesting rival because they have very good players.

Argentina secured an impressive win in their quarterfinal meeting with Venezuela. Messi set up two goals and scored one himself, tying Gabriel Batistuta's all-time record for most goals with Argentina.

I tied him, it's true, I didn't break it. But I'm happy to be alongside Bati, with everything that means. My head is in another thing, which is being able to lift the cup that we all dream of.
