Lionel Messi is now Argentina's all-time leading goal scorer. He surpassed Argentinian legend Gabriel Batistuta on Tuesday night against the United States in the Copa America Centenario semifinals. With his side up 1-0 already thanks to his brillant assist, he went and did this:
A brilliant free kick that fooled Brad Guzan made it 2-0 and all but puts this match out of reach for the Americans who are getting dominated in every facet.
This now makes Messi Barcelona and Argentina's all-time leading scorer. It's just another record in the storied career of the best player in the world.
It's fitting that his record-breaking goal came from a free kick. He's gotten significantly better at set pieces this season for the Blaugrana. He's continued that success over to the international level. It's unfair that a player that's so good at everything is now a master at the free kick game too. What can't he do?
