Barcelona fans have always screamed for the signing of a young, talented, promising center-back to contribute now and develop well into a great defender in the future. This has finally happened.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed in a press conference on Thursday that the club have completed the transfer of Olympique Lyonnais center-back Samuel Umtiti. The 22-year-old France international is current playing in Euro 2016, and will join the club at the completion of the Europen Championships for medicals and a five-year contract signing.

The best, most surprising aspect of this transfer is the value. Bartomeu confirmed that Barça will pay Lyon a €25 million transfer fee, with added performance bonuses, like playing time and titles won, among others. Umtiti will cost at least half the price Barça would have to pay for a player like Marquinhos or Aymeric Laporte, the two most rumored targets of the summer.

Umtiti is a combination of strength and talent. Like every player of his age, he's a bit raw, but everyone who watches Lyon games knows this kid has potential to become a very good defender. He is left-footed, which is important to play alongside Gerard Piqué, and is very fast for his position, another key aspect of a Barça defender having to stop counter-attacks.

In today's market, €25 million is a great price for a player who could become a beast. It looks, sounds and smells like a great signing already.

Barça signing a young center-back? Yes, believe that.
