FC Barcelona News: 10 August 2016; Final Training Session Before Gamper Trophy Game Completed

The game will be preceded at 7.30pm CET by the official presentation of the first team squad, including the new signings Denis Suárez, Lucas Digne, André Gomes and Samuel Umtiti, as well as Sergi Samper, who has been promoted from Barça B. The only players that are still missing are Neymar Jr and Rafinha, who are competing for their native Brazil at the Rio Olympics.

FC Barcelona play UC Sampdoria in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Wednesday at 8.30pm CET, in a game that will be preceded by the official presentation of the first team squad for the 2016/17 season. It will also be the last bit of match practice for the team before the first official fixture of the campaign, the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla on Sunday.

FC Barcelona held their final training session on Tuesday morning before Wednesday’s Gamper Trophy against Sampdoria. Luis Enrique’s available players were put through their paces ahead of the tradition season curtain raiser, which will be the last friendly before facing Sevilla in the Spanish Super Cup.

Vietto snubbed Barcelona for playing time at Sevilla -
Luciano Vietto has explained that he turned down the chance to join Barcelona because he felt he would have a better chance of securing regular first-team action at Sevilla. The Argentine was desperate to leave Atletico Madrid after a disappointing 2015-16 campaign and was heavily linked with a move to Camp Nou.

The report said Barcelona's decision to allow Vermaelen, Alen Halilovic and right-back Douglas to move on would save them paying €13.6m in extras that would otherwise have been owed to the players' previous clubs. The transfer that took Halilovic to the Camp Nou from Dinamo Zagreb included €10m in variables which the report added would now not be paid now following his move to Hamburg.
