Here we go, injuries...

Well, just like last season, Barcelona's new campaign begins with injuries.

Center-back Jérémy Mathieu was forced to leave the Spanish Super Cup first leg against Sevilla on Sunday with what appears to be a hamstring injury in his right leg. The French defender felt the injury and immediately asked to be substituted in the 27th minute. He was then replaced by another French defender, new Barça signing Lucas Digne.

Mathieu was somewhat surprisingly picked by Luis Enrique to start the match in Seville at the left-back position, when many expected Digne to get the starting spot. Now, the young player has a chance to do better than Mathieu as Barça hope to have a successful result in the first leg with a second encounter at Camp Nou just a few days away.

Injuries are never nice, even when they happen to backup players. Get better soon, Mathieu. We might need you later.
