Rennes manager Christian Gourcuff is hopeful that his club can complete the loan signing of Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard for the upcoming Ligue 1 season. Odegaard, 17, is being allowed to leave the European champions this month in order to help aid the attacking midfielder's development.

It is the last season at the Calderon before a move to a 70,000-seater stadium farther north in Spain’s capital. The Uefa Champions League final runners-up did not go for Diego Costa as expected to link up with Antoine Griezmann, but Kevin Gameiro from Sevilla. Fernando Torres finished the season well, but he was average until March. The Calderon idol will still have a part to play.

Valencia have signed midfielder Mario Suarez from Premier League outfit Watford on a season-long loan deal. Suarez, 29, arrives at Mestalla after not being included in Hornets manager Walter Mazzarri's squad for their opening day 1-1 draw at Southampton.

Manchester City youngster Manu Garcia loaned to Alaves - ESPN FC
Manchester City midfielder Manu Garcia has joined newly promoted La Liga club Alaves on a season-long loan. Garcia, 18, made his first competitive start for City in the FA Cup in February and then made his Premier League debut the following month, but he will now seek to secure more regular football with Alaves.
