The fantastic 3-0 win over Sevilla was a little bittersweet for Barcelona when Javier Mascherano was forced to leave the game with an injury. Thankfully, it's not too bad.
Just a few hours after the match, the medical services provided an update on Masche's problem:
FC Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano suffered a hamstring injury in his right leg the second half of the Spanish Super Cup second leg against Sevilla at the Camp Nou on Wednesday night.
The Argentinian is expected to be unavailable for approximately one week as he recovers.
The one-week absence means that El Jefecito will only miss the La Liga opening match, on Saturday at Camp Nou against Real Betis. The Argentinean will return to training by next Wednesday, and is expected to be fully available for the visit to San Mamés for a historically difficult encounter with Athletic Bilbao, where he'll certainly be needed.
Mascherano is the third Barcelona defender injured in the last few days, along with goalkeeper Ter Stegen and defender Jérémy Mathieu. Both players are expected back by the end of August.
