After two seasons together as Barcelona teammates, bringing many trophies to the club as well as vying for the position as Barca’s number one goalkeeper, Marc-André ter Stegen sent off Claudio Bravo with good wishes. Bravo has recently joined Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Our hard and fair competition was always motivating. We achieved many titles together! Mucha suerte @C1audioBravo ! pic.twitter.com/ndfJFpIZIs— Marc ter Stegen (@mterstegen1) August 26, 2016
They will meet again soon, however this time they will be on opposite sides of the pitch. Barcelona and Manchester City have been drawn in the same group for this season’s Champions League and will face each other twice. The games are scheduled for October 19th and November 1st.
After two years as the Cup goalkeeper, Ter Stegen will become Barça's undisputed starter in the European Cup and in La Liga, with former Ajax keeper Jasper Cillessen brought in to serve as backup to the young German. Now that Stegen is the number one goalie, he can certainly appreciate the competition with Bravo. It has made him better, and in the long run it will help him and Barça.
