As we get closer to the start of Barcelona's season, the numbers for the current 24 squad players have been confirmed, including the new signings.
The departure of Thomas Vermaelen to AS Roma frees up the #23 kit for Samuel Umtiti; Lucas Digne gets Sandro Ramírez's old number, and André Gomes takes the shirt from Adriano Correia. After earning first team promotion, the new Sergio Busquets, Sergi Samper, gets Busi's old #16 number.
The biggest doubt regarding the numbers was the #6 shirt. After Xavi left, Alves took it to pay homage to the former midfielder, but Dani also left. Rafinha Alcântara was interested, but he loves his #12 so much that he couldn't let go, which opened the door for Denis Suárez to wear the legendary number.
All other first teamers from last season kept their numbers. Only Number Fifteen is available, and that would theoretically go to either the fourth forward — which is a little weird — or a new right-back, unless Douglas is finally out the door and someone gets the #2 shirt.
