Samuel Umtiti has been a spectacular addition to the Barcelona squad. The young Frenchman arrived from Lyon on a €25 million transfer that already looks like a bargain after his fantastic start for the Catalans. Umtiti has played great football, and may already have become a starter alongside Gerard Piqué on the Blaugrana defense.

Big Sammy has certainly impressed on the pitch, but he's also an amazing interview. He gave one to Catalan radio this week, and he spoke about many topics. Here's a rundown of Umtiti's quotes:

Performance: I hope to do well through the season, getting as much time as possible and winning titles.

Learning: In training sessions I'm very alert to what the coach is saying and try to reproduce that in the games.

Style of play: I've always been a player that liked to pass and go past people. The coach asks me to play a lot of simple passes but also passes to open myself up.

Transfer: Lyon could have received more money but it's what happened, not to do with me.

Signing: In March I knew Barcelona were interested in me, when I knew it made me very happy.

Messi: The best in the world. He's a phenomenon, in training too.

MSN: I like to play against Messi, Neymar and Suarez in training. It's a plus, and in the games I notice it.

Pique: I'm learning everything from him.

Mascherano: He's a leader and shows it on the pitch. He's an example.

Comparison with Abidal: We're different. I hope to have the same career as him and win as many titles as he did here.

Self-criticism: I'm rarely satisfied with what I do. I always want to be better.
