Real Madrid youth players allowed to play despite transfer ban - CAS - ESPN FC
Real Madrid have announced that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will allow youth players affected by the current FIFA transfer ban to play while an overall appeal is being held. In early September, FIFA rejected appeals brought by Real and neighbours Atletico Madrid against a finding made last January that both clubs had broken international youth transfer rules, and both were banned for 12 months from registering any new players.

Diego Simeone's contract at Atletico Madrid has been reduced by two years, a decision which both insist are in the best interests of the club. Simeone had triggered rumours that he was leaving after the defeat in the 2016 Champions League final, stating he could take the club no further, despite being contracted by 2020.

The Liga de Futbol Profesional (LFP) has expressed its support to Valencia after the club denounced "pressure, threats and coercion" from two radical fan groups during their home games. Valencia, coached by Pako Ayestaran, have lost their opening three La Liga games this season and visit Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

Deportivo La Coruna have signed former Liverpool forward Ryan Babel until the end of the year to replace injured Joselu. Joselu, who joined Depor on a season-long loan from Stoke City this summer, is expected to be sidelined for two months after sustaining a knee injury during Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao.
