La Liga News: 21 September 2016; Sevilla Win Derby, Valencia Fire Pako Ayestaran

Real Madrid, Barcelona... Las Palmas? The Canary Islanders gatecrashing LaLiga -
Sun, sea, sand and a surprise package in the Spanish top flight. That is what’s on offer on the Canary Island of Gran Canaria at this early stage of the season. Behind the usual suspects at the top of the standings – the ubiquitous Real Madrid and Barcelona – is not Atletico Madrid as you might expect. It is UD Las Palmas with nine points from 12.

Sevilla FC 1-0 Real Betis - ESPN
Argentinian defender Gabriel Mercado was the hero for Sevilla as they secured a 1-0 win over city rivals Real Betis on a night of controversy at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. The summer signing from River Plate decided a frenetic and often overly physical encounter when he deflected home a Samir Nasri free-kick in the 51st minute.

Valencia sack Pako Ayestaran after less than six months as manager - ESPN FC
Valencia sacked manager Pako Ayestaran on Tuesday after four straight defeats to open the season. Ayestaran was appointed in March to replace Gary Neville, but the poor start to the campaign sealed his fate after Sunday's 2-1 loss at Athletic Bilbao.

Malaga record first victory of the season - ESPN
Malaga secured their first win of the season as they came from a goal down to beat Eibar 2-1 at La Rosaleda. Juande Ramos' men had two points from their opening four LaLiga games and when Nano put Eibar in front three minutes before half-time the writing was on the wall.
