Sergi Roberto has been one of the best players in Barcelona's season so far, and the rising star will get a reward for his great form.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants' officials are preparing a contract extension for Roberto, and have already contacted the player's agent to begin negotiations and look to close a deal in the near future.

Roberto is one of five Blaugrana stars who will get new contracts throughout the season, along with Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Ivan Rakitic and Marc-André ter Stegen. All five players are entering the final two years of their contracts, and the club wants to extend their deals until 2021 and increase the wages as well.

The rise of Sergi Roberto is one of the best stories in Barça's recent history. Ever since earning first team promotion four years ago, he struggled to find his place on the team, and the pressure of being the next great midfielder to come out of the club's youth system didn't help. But with the arrival of Luis Enrique, Roberto became to gain confidence, and became a key member of the squad last season because of his ability to perform well in different positions.

Thanks to Dani Alves' departure, he became the starting right-back and has played fantastic football in that position, and he's set to get paid as an undisputed starter. Well deserved, Sergi.
